About GNUE
Gwangju National University of Education (GNUE) is a hub for elementary education with a 90 year-old history and tradition. Faculty and staff with outstanding capabilities, together with the students, have devoted themselves to opening a new page in elementary education. GNUE is a family-like and humane education community that embraces and shares the difficulties of every member together. GNUE is a U-learning campus where traditional qualities are fused with up-to-date modern technology, allowing member to enjoy themselves everyday.
Now, we will not be complacent, but instead will take big leaps and make adequate transitions to build a new 100 year future for GNUE. GNUE is a university with a special purpose that strives to cultivate future leaders in elementary education who have big hearts, a good sense of the mission, and creativity. GNUE aim is not to cultivate teachers who wish merely to become worker bees and live predictable lives with just basic knowledge, but to cultivate those who will become devoted future educators with big hearts and a good sense of duty. We will train educators who can embrace and understand the pain of the students, and cultivate those who can become life mentors and provide experimental and existential care for students.
These things cannot be achieved alone. It can be accomplished when alumni, faculty, current students, and community members all put forth their utmost efforts for the University’s development. With a new vision, the Poonghyang campus is inflamed with passion to strive for rapid progress. Let us altogether become the foundation of this progress and develop GNUE into the world’s most outstanding educational institute for teachers. Let us make GNUE a general university of education that moves everybody’s heart.
